People can... change

People can change

People feel safe when things are familiar

People find change difficult because it is new

People repeat unhelpful and damaging behaviour because it feels safe

People get stuck repeating unhelpful behaviour as the connections in the brain are very strong

People can realise old behaviours are damaging

People can choose new behaviours

People tend to like things that are easy

People find new ways of behaving hard

People can learn that the reason new things are hard is that new connections in the brain are being made

People can build new pathways in their brains

People can repeat behaviours to strengthen new pathways into stronger pathways

People can become used to new ways of behaving

People can realise that new ways of behaving can come to feel safe

People can realise that old ways of behaving were not safe or helpful

People can stop behaving in old ways and connections in the brain break down from disuse

People can notice that old ways of behaving now feel unsafe

People can change
