I live in Durrington, which I love as it's so near the Downs.
I live with my husband, teenager, two cats and a Russian Rat Snake!
Hello, I'm Louise, a BACP registered counsellor working in Worthing, West Sussex and the surrounding areas.
I've experienced many ups and downs in my life and have had short-term counselling to help me through some really tough times. I've also had long-term counselling to find out more about myself and help me explore my feelings. It has helped me process loss, helped me in my relationships, help me accept myself and has helped my confidence grow and to feel I have worth for who I am.
Before training to be a counsellor I've had experience in a variety of work. I loved my job working as a design engineer in a large corporate company, and equally as a pastoral support advisor in a college, an NVQ assessor, apprentice training co-ordinator, a foster carer and mum. I have met and worked alongside many wonderful, passionate and interesting people of all ages, genders and orientations.
But my job now, as a counsellor, is the best. I know how helpful and insightful counselling can be, and I combine this knowledge with my training and experience to help others, like you, find what they need too.
I will work with you from a person-centred approach where the sessions are led by you, meaning we work with what you choose to talk about each session. I work in a warm, empathic, accepting manner. I will not judge you but be on your side with whatever you are dealing with, so you are free to verbalise your thoughts and feelings.
Saying things aloud in a safe environment with a counsellor can be a powerful experience. It is a time to reflect on whether your ideas and behaviour are still useful to you now, or whether they are a repeating pattern from your past and could be let go.
I know there are things that are really difficult to talk about but I'd like to reassure you I am here to listen and accept without judgement whatever they may be. My approach focuses on creating an environment of trust, empathy and acceptance between us to help your growth and development.
I believe you have the ability to grow, heal and discover yourself and I'm here to be beside you and help you do that. I am relaxed with whatever you need to talk about and accept you as you are.
In time, you can connect with the true you, be open with your thoughts and feelings without the need to worry about the expectations of others, or what you 'should' be doing or feeling. You can learn to know what it is you actually want and be able to say '"no" when you need to.
You can learn to love yourself and find acceptance of yourself and others.
If you would like to talk to me in a free initial session to find out if I would be a good counsellor for you please contact me.
